20 hangars for the Ambatovy mine in Madagascar, Africa
Providing the Ambatovy mine in Madagascar with electricity, the
Frisomat industrial hangars play an essential role in the development and daily
use of the mineral mine.
This ambitious project, a partnership between 4 world
players (Sherrit International, Sumitomo, Korea Resources and SNC-Lavalin) is the single
largest foreign investment in Madagascar.
Once fully operational, it will have the annual capacity to produce 60,000
tonnes of refined nickel, 5,600 tonnes of cobalt, and 210,000 tonnes of
ammonium sulphate fertilizer. Ambatovy is positioned to be among the
world’s largest lateritic nickel mines.

Schneider Electric, our client, got the contract to develop
the electrical distribution substations necessary to power the mine. Needing 20
industrial buildings to house the different switchboards to power up the mine,
they got in touch with Frisomat.
The electrical substations play a key role. No power =
no mining.
Scattered across the giant plant site, each
pre-engineered hangar accommodates the equipment for electrical distribution of
the mine. Therefore, Schneider had some very specific requirements which needed
to be fulfilled.
In the first place, top quality industrial buildings,
but even so :
- extensive
engineering
- a reliable
and trustworthy partner
- fast
delivery terms
- quick
assembly on site
- a strong
steel structure resisting the extreme winds in Madagascar
- a hangar
in accordance with the norms and standards
Supplying Africa with
quality industrial buildings is something we do for more than 30 years.
