It goes without saying that the African continent is in full expansion. Some decades ago we only knew Africa from the civil wars, famine, violation of human rights and international food aid. For years, foreign investors have ignored the continent due to the difficult economic and political situation.

But things are changing. The next years, it will be all about Africa. Africa has many natural resources, for the mining and agricultural industry as well as for the oil industry. Nevertheless, the continent struggles with an image problem which is not so easy to shake off. 

But… South-Africa hosts the world cup, Angola is a rising economy and the tourism industry is also boosting. There are so many positive stories to tell. Corporate social responsibility. A vague and detached term too much used as a business Marketing instrument to point out the care for Africa. In the case of Frisomat, these are not empty terms. Early 2010, Frisomat joined the Ex-Change Company Club (EC³). This group of entrepreneurs engage themselves to share acquired knowhow with their African colleagues. The knowledge is not always present to start up a blooming business. EC³ wants to do something about this, each week Flemish entrepreneurs depart for Africa to coordinate local projects. Production and development

A steel construction in Africa is exposed to fierce winds which rages throughout the continent. This is why the connection pieces of the industrial building must be as strong as possible. Frisomat has its own test centre where, in collaboration with the University of Leuven, strength and rotation tests are executed. Thanks to this knowhow, Frisomat is capable to realize an industrial building as solid as possible.

Transport and assembly

Thanks to the meccano concept, an industrial building fits in 1 container. The lightweight, but very strong steel construction can be loaded on a truck or sea-going vessel. The Port of Antwerp is the 7^th port in the world, much sought after its excellent connection to the biggest industrial centers in Europe. Frisomat uses actively its advantageous position near the Port of Antwerp for the transport of its industrial buildings.

On the construction site, the industrial building is assembled as a giant building kit, with or without local workforce. No heavy equipment is needed; detailed plans are always provided.
